In the aging room
Good cheese refuses to be hurried
Every wheel starts as fresh, unhomogenised organic milk from a certified organic family farm nearby, and spends months on timber shelves in our aging room. That is the whole secret. There isn’t another one.

Our story · A family farm first
Judged by the country. Made for the neighbours.
We have been making organic cheese at Matatoki since 1994, and the NZ Champions of Cheese judges have been kind enough to notice. But the reviews we care about most come over the cafe counter.
Everything is made here, by hand, from certified organic milk. No shortcuts, no additives, nothing we wouldn’t feed our own family.
